VET Planning
One of the Board’s key responsibilities is to provide the Minister with strategic advice about the future needs of the NSW training system. In fulfilling this role, the Board develops planning documents, which detail the strategies, priority areas and specific initiatives that will guide the future of the NSW training system.
In order to improve planning for future skills needs, the Board developed a strategic plan 2002-2004 that assisted the Board in positioning vocational education and training as a key driver of economic and regional development in New South Wales. Currently The NSW Board of Vocational Education and Training is developing the NSW Strategic Plan for Vocational Education and Training 2005-2007. The Plan for 2005-2007 will be constructed broadly on the issues of:-
-
Skills – building workforce capabilities.
-
Participation – encouraging participation in employment and training.
-
Sustainability – business in partnership with communities.
-
Quality – ensuring outcomes meet expectations.
A consultation paper was developed listing a series of discussion questions on the range of issues and to develop the plan a series of wide ranging consultative forums with industry, employer and employee groups, training providers, community groups and government agencies were held during February 2005.
