Transitions for Young People with Disability

The Board of Vocational Education and Training plays an important role in assisting communities with low levels of workforce participation to access vocational education and training (VET) and sustainable employment opportunities. The need for improved support for students with disability to access vocational pathways was recommended in the Strategic Evaluation of VET in Schools conducted by Chairman of the NSW Board of Vocational Education and Training.

The project aimed to assist young people with disability, their parents and teachers to access comprehensive information on disability transition support programs in NSW. The Career Moves web portal (www.careermoves.net.au) has been developed to cater to the wide range of needs of young people with disability to assist their transition from school to work, further education or other post school options. The web portal is an important new service which is being widely promoted to teachers, students, parents and disability community groups.
