In addition to its advisory role, the Board’s work
includes the implementation of a range of training projects
designed to demonstrate the value of vocational education
and training for individuals, industry and communities.
The Board’s program of demonstration projects reflects
its legislated objective to encourage the development of best-practice
vocational education and training initiatives, as well as
the creation of new partnerships between consumers of vocational
education and training and public and private training providers.
In fulfilling this role the Board ensures that the projects
it commissions:
-
inform planning and resource allocation
-
support its commitment to improving the NSW vocational
education and training system’s responsiveness to
industry needs, and
-
equip individuals and communities to respond to changes
facing the workforce.
The Board’s research priorities are focused on gaining
a better understanding of the forces that are shaping our
society, and developing a strategic response for the vocational
education and training system that harnesses these forces
to benefit the community.
Current Board projects are addressing the specific training
needs of many groups across the community, including young
people, people with disabilities and people in regional communities.
