Recognition and Accreditation
The NSW Vocational Education and Training Accreditation
Board (VETAB) is responsible for registering training organisations
and accrediting courses in the NSW vocational education and
training sector. In addition to its registration and accreditation
role, VETAB also monitors Registered Training Organisations
(RTOs) to ensure compliance with national standards, and provides
advice to training organisations on registration, accreditation
and quality endorsement.
The Department’s Recognition Services team provides
support to VETAB through the registration and quality endorsement
of training organisations, the accreditation of vocational
education and training courses and the accreditation of non-university
courses in the higher education sector. Recognition Services
also manages recognition of migrants’ skills and qualifications
in NSW.
The Director of Recognition Services is also the Commissioner
of Vocational Training in NSW and Chair of the Vocational
Training Board, which regulates apprenticeships and traineeships
in NSW.
