An important part of the Board's role is to inform people
about and promote the value of the NSW vocational education
and training system. The board supports the exchange of ideas
across the VET sector by publicising news of events that focus
on skills policy development and the promotion of VET achievements.
The Board is also committed to liaising with all VET stakeholders
to ensure that all people in New South Wales have equal opportunity
to participate in vocational education and training.
The Board’s
ongoing program of community consultation is essential to
achieving this goal. By meeting people involved in industry,
education and training and workplace learning initiatives,
the Board gains an insight into the challenges and opportunities
that are specific to each community. By visiting regional
areas the Board ensures that it is well-informed about the
training needs and issues of individuals and industry outside
the State’s metropolitan centres.
Since 1997, the Board has visited over 40 regional and
metropolitan communities throughout New South Wales.
